Who this page is for
BUMS — Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery — is the five-and-a-half-year degree, internship included, that qualifies a graduate to practise Unani medicine in India. Every listing on this page names BUMS as a required or accepted qualification, either as the employer's structured requirement or in the text of a notice a verified member has shared. Posts from claim-verified institutions and posts shared by members are listed together, newest first, and each card says which it is.
Where BUMS roles cluster
Unani is the smallest of the AYUSH systems by college count, and its hiring is correspondingly concentrated. Government medical officer posts are the largest single source: state Unani departments, the National AYUSH Mission, CGHS Unani dispensaries, ESIC and the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine appoint BUMS doctors, mostly through state recruitment boards and contract drives. Unani medical colleges hire tutors, lecturers and assistant professors in Moalajat, Ilmul Advia, Kulliyat and the other departments; these posts require a postgraduate degree above tutor. Unani hospitals and integrative centres, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar and Delhi, hire physicians for OPD and the Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer (regimenal therapy) units. Pharma and quality roles at Unani manufacturers want BUMS graduates for formulation documentation, pharmacovigilance and medical advisory.
Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar and Kerala carry the most postings, following the distribution of Unani colleges and dispensaries.
Typical pay
Pay varies by state, sector and experience, so treat these as ranges rather than offers. A fresh BUMS graduate at a private clinic or hospital typically starts between ₹18,000 and ₹35,000 a month. Government medical officer posts are paid on state scales, commonly ₹40,000 to ₹65,000 a month on contract and more on regular appointment; the National AYUSH Mission's contractual rates are set per state. Teaching posts follow the college's structure, graded by NCISM minimum-qualification requirements. Where an employer has stated a salary band on Anmaya it appears on the listing; where it has not, ask before you apply.
Registration
To practise, a BUMS graduate must be registered with their state board for Unani (or the state's Indian Medicine council) and, under the NCISM Act 2020, appear on the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine register. Employers on Anmaya can ask for your registration number, and the Anmaya Verified mark on a profile means an ops reviewer has checked that credential against the council record. Registration rules differ by state; your state board is the authority for your own case.
How applying through Anmaya works
Employer posts carry an Apply button for verified members. Your Anmaya profile and attached résumé go to the employer, who sees that your credential has been checked. There is no fee to apply and no fee to post. Community posts are notices shared by members and carry the contact the poster gave; you apply directly to that contact. Every community post is reviewed before publishing and expires after thirty days, so what you see here is current.
Because Unani notices travel mostly by word of mouth, the community board matters more for BUMS graduates than for any other degree: a member who sees a state recruitment notice shares it here, with provenance. If you have not joined yet, a free verified profile puts you on the list the weekly jobs email goes to.
