Jobs for BAMS doctors

7 live openings from verified employers and members, newest first

Who this page is for

BAMS — Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery — is the five-and-a-half-year degree (including a one-year rotatory internship) that qualifies a graduate to practise Ayurveda in India. Every listing on this page names BAMS as a required or accepted qualification, either in the employer's structured requirement or in the text of a notice a verified member has shared. Posts from claim-verified institutions and posts shared by members are listed together, newest first, and each card says which it is.

Where BAMS roles cluster

The bulk of BAMS openings fall into five groups. Ayurveda physician and medical officer posts at hospitals, Panchakarma units and integrative centres are the largest group, and the ones most often renewed. Teaching posts — tutor, lecturer, assistant professor — come from Ayurveda colleges and need a postgraduate degree (MD or MS in an Ayurveda specialty) for anything above tutor. Wellness and resort medicine roles at Ayurveda retreats and spa-wellness centres in Kerala, Goa, Karnataka and the hill states hire BAMS doctors for guest consultations and treatment supervision. Pharma and product roles at Ayurvedic manufacturers want BAMS graduates for medical advisory, formulation documentation and training. Telemedicine and online consultation openings have grown since 2020 and are the ones most often tagged work from home; see the dedicated hub for those.

Geographically, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh carry the most postings, following the distribution of Ayurveda colleges and NABH-accredited Ayurveda hospitals.

Typical pay

Pay varies by state, sector and experience, so treat these as ranges rather than offers. A fresh BAMS graduate in a private clinic or hospital usually starts between ₹20,000 and ₹40,000 a month. Government medical officer posts under state AYUSH departments and the National AYUSH Mission are paid on state scales, commonly ₹40,000 to ₹70,000 a month on contract, more on regular posts. Teaching posts follow the college's pay structure, with NCISM minimum-qualification requirements determining the grade. Senior physicians at accredited hospitals and consultants at wellness brands earn considerably more, often with a revenue share on procedures. Where an employer has stated a salary band on Anmaya it appears on the listing; where it has not, ask before you apply.

Registration

To practise, a BAMS graduate must be registered with their State Board of Ayurveda (or the state's Indian Medicine council) and, since the NCISM Act 2020, appear on the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine register. Employers on Anmaya can ask for your registration number, and the Anmaya Verified mark on a profile means an ops reviewer has checked that credential against the council record. Registration details vary by state; the state board's website is the authority for your own case.

How applying through Anmaya works

Employer posts carry an Apply button for verified members. Your Anmaya profile and attached résumé go to the employer, who sees that your credential has been checked. There is no fee to apply and no fee to post. Community posts are notices shared by members — a WhatsApp forward with provenance — and carry the contact the poster gave; you apply directly to that contact. Every community post is reviewed before it is published and expires after thirty days, so what you see here is current.

If you are a BAMS graduate who has not joined yet, a free verified profile is the way to be found by the employers who post here, and to receive the weekly jobs email that points to this page.

Frequently asked questions

Can a BAMS doctor work in a private allopathic hospital?
A BAMS graduate can be employed by any hospital for roles within the scope of Ayurveda practice — an Ayurveda OPD, a Panchakarma or wellness wing, or an integrative department. Prescribing modern medicines is governed by state rules and is not permitted in most states; the listing should state the scope, and you can ask the employer before applying.
What experience do employers expect from a fresh BAMS graduate?
The rotatory internship is the baseline. Most physician posts for freshers ask for comfort with OPD consultation, Panchakarma supervision and documentation. A house-surgeon year or a hospital internship at an accredited Ayurveda hospital stands out, as does a Panchakarma certification.
Do I need an MD (Ayurveda) for teaching posts?
For tutor posts a BAMS with registration is usually enough. Lecturer and assistant-professor posts require a postgraduate degree in the relevant Ayurveda specialty under NCISM minimum-standards regulations, and senior posts require teaching experience counted from the PG degree.
How often are new BAMS jobs posted?
Employer posts arrive as institutions hire; community posts are shared by members as they see notices. The page is sorted newest first and the weekly jobs email summarises what is new. Posts that have closed are marked and drop off this list.
Are the employers on this page verified?
Posts marked **Employer** come from institutions whose claim to their organisation page has been checked by Anmaya ops. Posts marked **Community** are shared by verified members in good faith and reviewed before publishing, but Anmaya does not verify the employer behind a community notice the way it verifies a claimed institution.
